A cable pattern from depths of the web. 7×24=168 stitches around the cap where it would have been around 140in a stranded cap with the same yarn/needle combination. Earlier failures have taught a good lesson: diagonal cables reduce the circumference significantly.
A good deal of my stash comes from weaving residues of a plaid production in Rīga, my home city. They are dirt-cheap (€3.50/kg, October ‘24), & it would take a quarter an hour to make the ends into a ball/balls (see the last photo to as an ilustration).
