Something lively in a gloomy Latvian October afternoon. All the credits to the author of the fabulous design. My part is only the fingerwork. ;D Knitting was great fun, indeed.
Knit from the photos of other projects rather than following some charts/instructions. Cast on 132 stitches. When half of the desired height was reached, started increases: six in every row (knit in the front and the back of two adjacent stitches under each horn). Eventually, got to 282 stitches; had to switch to some circular needles at some point. Then divided the perimeter in six equal parts (47 stitches in each) & started two-needle bind-off from the tips of the horns towards the centre of the cap top. Finally, added an i-cord along the top ridge of each horn. At the tip of each horn, there’s a tiny jingle bell (unfortunately, barely audible).
Knitting of the headgear is much simpler than it may seem from the first glance, & everyone with basic stranded knitting skills can do that.
The cap’s absolutely wearable, and the horns stay up by themselves. The intended recipient is twelve years old & lives in a remote Carpathian settlement in .
