An earlier twin cap_06 whirligigs turned out to be a sheer disaster, so I decided to knit the pattern as an ultra-light FairIsle one (which it originally is in fact). The yellow bands consist of five rows of shade sequence ABCBA, where A is the lightest and C the darkest.

3×48=144 stitches around the cap. The pattern repeat is 24 stitches rather than 48 as it may seem at the first glance.

Fair Isle definitely isn’t me cup of teapot: me firmest conviction is that colours are to be played with rather than to be followed strictly in a preset order.
