OK, so I’m now officially an Understory fangirl. And while that sounds like a new cyberpunk series, it’s actually an accessory.
So why am I doing it when I officially also hate knitting in the round and always mope about not getting gauge and how awkward knitting in the round is? (Backstory: I’m a combined knitter, so it’s awkward for me.) Because it’s so pretty, and so good to have warm hands.
I want to make both parts this time (see previous project for only the upper), and it’s a great opportunity for using my own hand-dyed yarn for the liner and hand-spun for the upper! So exciting!
About the yarn for the liner mitt
Unfortunately I have no information about the yarn except it was bought on impulse when visiting a yarn shop in Hamburg, because it was soft and lovely, natural-coloured and unreasonably cheap. I bought it specifically with dyeing in mind. I … guess? … it’s sport weight.
About the liner yarn colourway
It was my first experiment with sprinkling yarn with coloured salt, back in the time when speckled yarns were something you needed to have. While I actually failed to speckle the yarn, I got a nice variegation, and colours I absolutely love. The knitted fabric looks like the ocean in winter.
About the yarn for the outer mitt
It’s handspun! One of my first handspun yarns, and my first try on rolags (I loved it).
