Notes

Hopeing to find my perfect “go to” sock recipe! Using the 8sts per inch pattern (even though I get a little tighter gauge than that) and doing the adult medium size.

Ugh….started these in April but then I messed up the heel flaps. It’s so hard to see now that I’ve lost vision in my right eye. I got frustrated and just ripped them out.

Starting them again today - June 7 - as a part of the No Fear KAL in the Happy Scrappy Life group. Decided to just do one sock in the hopes that it’ll be alittle quicker and easier. It’s time to conquer this fear and accomplish these heels!

Post I posted the day I finished this sock…..

Yay!!! I finished my sock. It feels like such an accomplishment!!! Here is the back story, for anyone that doesn’t know. On February 2 of this year I lost vision in my right eye due to my blood pressure being incredibly high. Since then I went through a lot more medical issues, including having multiple blood clots in both of my lungs and discovering I have severe anemia and a blood clotting disorder. It’s been quite a rough few months and knitting has been something to help me relax. Before all of this medical stuff I was a prolific sock knitter and could practically do it in my sleep. But with the loss of vision in my right eye it became very difficult to knit heels. I could do the rest - the heels just gave me a lot of difficulty. I’ve ripped out quite a few socks since February. But then a couple weeks ago I decided to start a No Fear KAL and to conquer knitting sock heels. I did it and it feels amazing!!!! Obviously knitting socks isn’t lifesaving but for me it is just the beginning. I’ve been through a lot the last few months and as of right now I’m still facing life with just one eye. Things might be hard sometimes but I’ll just think about this sock heel and about how I conquered it! That’ll show me I can do it! If you have anything at all that you’ve felt you can’t do take my word that you can. Just try. And if you fail then try again. If I can do it so can you!!!
