What a wonderful pattern Henslowe is, I loved making it and I am in love with the result.

I’m a huge fan of the merino light for knitting shawls. The feel, the texture and the excellent colours makes it wondrous stuff.

I did a lot of procrastinating over whether I could fit in the full four repeats of the roman stripe section with just one skein of my yarn and eventually decided to take the chance. Once I began the picot edging, and realised how time consuming it was going to be, however, I ripped back to the end of the third repeat and went into the edging from there. Luckily I had put in a lifeline just in case because I if I’d had to rip back the picot edging, I think I might have cried!

The advice to use a dpn for the picot edging was brilliant. Not only does it make the knitting more manoeuverable, but it is easier to work out where you are in the pattern should you need to do a spot of unpicking.

I had just a small ball left at the end, probably about 10g in weight so I’m relieved I saw sense. Besides, the shawl is heavenly enough without that final repeat.
