Update 19Feb13:
Finished on 14Feb13, only had a little piece left of the the fourth skein left!
ended up only able to do the following rows:
cast on
-2 rows Knit
-16 rows st st
-16 rows textured
-16 rows st st
-16 rows textured
-16 rows st st
-16 rows textured
-12 row st st
-4 rows textured
-2 rows garter
barely had enough to do the bind off, certainly not enough to do another row! But it’s bee-yoo-tiful!
Update 30Nov12:
So far I have completed:
-cast on
-2 rows Knit
-16 rows st st
-16 rows textured
-16 rows st st
-16 rows textured
-8 rows st st
Had to add in 2nd skein of yarn in the middle of the 8th row today. Added picture of progress so far.
Update 09Nov12:
Noticed an error in the chart for the Textured stitch, so updated it.
Update 08Nov12:
Just finished the cast on rows and the first 16 rows of the Stockinette stitch section. Decided to make a chart to keep everything straight. You can really see the triangle shape emerging and it’s growing. My first shawl with this type of construction, weird to not have any decreases!
I recommend this webpage to anyone else that is having trouble wrapping their brain on how this shawl works:

In a nutshell, the center knit stitch (the bolded “K” in my chart on the stockinette stitch chart for example) is the point. You start at the nape of the neck and all the increases push the stitches diagonally away from the center stitch so it just keeps growing and growing as long as you keep knitting. You can customize your shawl however you want.
I’m not sure how many sets of Stockinette and Textured stitches I’m going to do yet, I’ll see how far my yarn goes. I’d like to use up my four balls of yarn that was gifted to me but I don’t want something too ginormous either. On with the adventure!
