When I moved across the country, I bought one component in every state in which I stayed overnight, starting white yarn with Ohio (where I started) and ending with buttons in Oregon (where I ended).

I ended up with one extra color, so I added a border at the bottom and at the end of the sleeves. I also added a few pockets with the leftover yarn.
