math done. this is what I’ve come up with:

gauge: 20 st x 20 rows = approx 8 cm x 6 cm
242 stitches, 64 / 114 / 64**
216 stitches, 56 / 104 / 56
12 garter for button band

I’ll knit a few rows then take it off the needles to see if there’s a good chance it’ll fit …

** after 12 rows I took it off the needles to measure it and found my math was wrong. Gotta take away about 30 stitches (updated above). I did further math to make sure the lace area is divisible by 8.

June 13 – I’ve finished the body and have joined the shoulders. I think I’ll take a little break and knit something with a heavier yarn.

July 15 – Picked up the collar and I’m on my way again! Once that’s done I’ll do inset sleeves. I think I will make the sleeves long because the dress I want to wear this with has long sleeves.

This yarn has a really nice drape to it, I think this sweater will be very flattering.

August 9 – I learned to do seamless garter stitch! Very handy. Basically on every new row you remove the marker, slip the first stitch with the yarn in back, then knit or purl the next stitch (depending what row you’re on). So the beginning of the row moves over a stitch every time.

Sept 30 – I have about 5 rows left on the second sleeve. I’m almost done — you have no idea how I can’t wait to move that green bar to 100%!

Oct 1 – Just finished binding off, it fits great! Still need to sew in ends and add buttons.
