A little bag for Blossom.
This is another project for using up leftover yarn.
It had to have orange because that’s Blossoms favourite colour.
I was inspired by Lindsay McFarlane’s lovely Minnie Bag, but the pattern wasn’t availiable on Etsy when I looked so I decided to use my own crochet knowledge and experience to make a Granny bag.
It is made from 8 four round granny squares and a strip of double crochet (american terms) 48 rows long, 9 stitches wide.
The squares are joined into groups of 4 with sc stitching, for texture.
Then the side strip is joined around the sides and bottom with further sc stitching.
The strap is sc in rows of different colours.
80 base chain and 9 rows wide so that it is the same width as the sides.
I sewed it to the inside of the bag, at the top of the sides, with two rows of stitching to make it secure and sit flat.
The shell edging is skip 2 st, 5 dc into next stitch, skip 2 st, slipst into next st. repeat around.
I attached a bead charm made with a selection of pretty beads in co-ordinating colours. There is a kitty and a mouse amongst them. I added in a glass bead from a necklace that I had as a child and an amethyst bead from another broken necklace.
Darning in all the ends was quite a job, but now completed.
I sewed flowers on the sides of the bag. They are crocheted in colours to match the adjacent granny squares
I made a birdie charm because Blossom loved the other birds that I made.
The bag has a loop and a flower at the top to close it. The loop is made of gold elastic, for more bling.
I’m counting the project as finished but I will probably add to it from time to time. I’d like to put some leaves with the flowers and I will line it sometime.
