I’m making this hat for my son’s birthday.
He saw a similar one on the internet and loved it.

I’ve finished the hat and one horn.
Looks like I’m going to have to get a bit more of my main colour wool to finish around the second horn.
This is probably going to mean that the hat will be mailed too late to arrive on time. Darn! That’ll teach me to skimp on buying wool but I did think 2 skeins would do it.

I’ve really enjoyed this pattern. There are a few techniques I hadn’t tried before, like double slip stitching around the edging and working in spirals.
I don’t much like working in spirals-I find it harder to keep track of my stitches, even using stitch markers.
I’m hoping my second horn will match the first.

I don’t think I’m going to get a beard made in time, even tho’ I bought the wool for it.

Finished the hat. I got another skein of wool after work-Hooray!
Had a bit of a rush to get it finished and posted.
I would have liked to have spent more time on the finishing, but it turned out okay.
I think this is a very clever pattern. I loved how the horns were shaped with stitching.
I made a couple of rows of slipstitched furry yarn around the base of the horns to add to the rustic look.
I’m not sure if I will make a beard.
I’ll see if the birthday boy really wants one.
