5/9/2010: OK, this project is coming along. I’ve joined my second skein and am somewhere around row 115. Almost there. Will not bother to post photos until it actually looks different than a bigger version of the photo already posted.
5/15/2010: I finished the body of the blanket today and am now completely daunted by the task of evenly picking up stitches around the edge. Wish me luck.
5/17/2010: Using Franklin Habit’s advice on picking up stitches (http://the-panopticon.blogspot.com/2009/06/pick-ups-witho...) I managed to pick up stitches along an entire side of the blanket (and take a 20 minute power nap) on my lunch break today. I’m toying with the idea of ripping them out though, and picking up the stitches in the MC rather than the CC because it looks a little wonkey on the WS.
5/19/2010: Successfully picked up stitches all the way around. It was actually pretty easy using Franklin Habit’s above referenced method and by watching this youtube video: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yJ6_O_JcsM). I’m glad I picked up in the main color. I’ve knit about 8 rows of the edge and I’m really digging the colors. Since I’m using 4 different colors for the lace pattern rather than 2, I decided to make the sections of each color even by knitting 6 rows each (rather than 8 and 4 per the instructions). I’ve decided that I will do the i-cord bind-off in the MC to tie the blanket color scheme together and to frame the lace.
5/19/2010 (later on that same day…): blargharghack! Noticed I had an accidental YO about 3 rows ago in the lace. Frack. Realllllly don’t want to frog.
5/19/2010 (even LATER that same day): Alright was able to cut and spit-splice the long piece of extra yarn into a much more manageable length and thread it back through the garment giving many stitches over a foot-length of the lace a little more. Worked wonderfully! Much better than frogging.
5/20/2010: Joined my third color for the lace last night. I’m loving the colors together. Can’t wait to finish!
5/24/2010: Finished this yesterday and I love it. Can’t wait to get it blocked and take some pictures :-) I also started a matching Tweed Baby Hat using the leftover yarn for this project. Nearly done with it.
