This really doesn’t follow so much as incorporate the Cascade pattern at this point. I’ve altered the info to reflect that, and I may write this pattern up separately at some point.
Okay. So I need 114 stitches total: that’s 66 for the back, and I’ll do 24 for each front, since the 66 back is still about four stitches too wide on each side.
At bottom of armhole, BO 13st on each side. Decreasing 1 st on next two WS - sl1 k2tog {do stuff} ssk sl1 - knitting next two WS straight, and then decreasing once more (35 sts remain).
At shoulders, BO 2st on first two rows, then 5st on second two (in retrospect should have done 3 and 4 but meh). Starting on the fronts now.
Cast on 27st instead of 24, to incorporate a knit-on i-cord edge. At bottom of armhole, didn’t BO any sts, just decreased 6x(? need to verify) on WS row. Worked straight until neck, then stopped working i-cord edge and decreased another 6x on that side. Worked until even with back BO, and did the same 2/5 st BO. Seamed shoulders.
Armhole edging is i-cord bind off. Seamed sides except for a pocket hole, which I just eyeballed.
Picked up stitches along hem above ribbing and along back edge of pocket hole, worked toward center in stockinette, decreasing every 4 rows along the top edge with p2tog. Looks sloppy, but it’s a fucking pocket.
Original modifications:
- Working in one piece: co 48, pm, co 88, pm, co 48
- k2p2 for 1.5”
- Honeycomb brioche instead of cable honeycomb pattern
- Pockets!
The pockets I made by casting on 40 st using JMCO (20 on each needle), k 7 rounds, break yarn. Do that twice, and join the pockets into the knitting at the markers (just work to the marker, then knit a row of the pocket flat, and then work the rest of the vest). I’m keeping the pockets on DPNs rather than trying to smash them onto the circular with the rest of the vest. No idea if this is going to work; I’m just making it up as I go.
TOO BIG. FROGGING, starting over in multiple pieces and cutting SO MANY of the stitches. This was completely the wrong yarn for that pattern.
