Beautiful Fair Isle hat pattern with a lovely Norwegian Snowflake design!

I recommend checking your fair isle gauge before beginning - with the heavier Shepherd’s Wool yarn used in the purple and yellow hats I cast on 96 stitches - one less 16 stitch repeat - because of the gauge difference.

The navy and gray hats (112 stitches per the pattern) used the following amounts of yarn:

Navy Hat with Gray Snowflakes: 39 grams of navy and 18 grams of gray.

Gray Hat with Navy Snowflakes: 42 grams of gray and 18 grams of navy.

Purple Hat with Yellow Snowflakes: 41 grams of purple and 16 grams of the yellow.

I worked 10 rounds of ribbing (used 10 grams of yarn) before beginning the fair isle pattern. I would recommend knitting a good inch and a half ribbing. I used Jeny’s surprising elastic slip knot cast-on - and while it’s a slow, tedious cast-on - it makes the most amazingly elastic cast-on and now my personal favorite cast-on for ribbing.
