This came from a House of White Birches (do they even exist anymore?) leaflet called Crochet Gingerbread House. It was easy to crochet -- done in a combination of worsted weight, sport weight, and thread. It has plastic canvas inside for support, and the bottom is a styrofoam ring with a crocheted cover as part of the pattern. But the cutest thing is the “smoke” coming out of the chimney -- it’s really Fiberfill stuffing. Putting this together was far more annoying than the actual crochet work, but then I always hate assembly.
This won second place at the Virginia State Fair in 2004.
