Notes

Inspired by Rockpool Candy’s Pebble Rug - I will not felt the pebbles (since the yarns I am using are a collection of cotton, acrylic, wool-mix etc) and will try to make them flatter than in the Pebble Rug. Let’s see how it will turn out.

24/10/2010 Ten days and 56 pebbles! I started with the grey acrylic ones, then beige and green cotton / wool-mix ones. So far the pebbles have eaten an old pullover, a pair of old tights and 1 leg of old cotton pants. They are really quick and easy to make. I think I will try to sew them together and also fix them to a rubber net, the kind you put under rugs to prevent them from slipping.

14/11/2010 Lost motivation for a couple of weeks but soon found it again! 110 pebbles now and that should do it. Most of them are stuffed (they ate 2 T-shirts, a pair of cotton trousers, tights and a pullover), half have been through a wash. I will take them to a Stitch n’ Bitch on Wednesday to get some ideas about how to attach them together.

-- later in the evening 14/11 Just sewing together with quadruple yarn seems to work ok. But now I want to actually make the rug bigger! So will have to crochet another 40 or so pebbles. I know what I’ll do in the SnB…

22/11/2010 things got out of hand and now the pebble count is 139 and I want to make it bigger. with more colours! 150 pebbles? 200?

12/2/2012 The rug has been on the bathroom floor for a year now and more pebbles are being made at a steady pace of about 1/month. Not gonna get finished any time soon… we’re moving soon and the new bathroom has a double sink. So who gets the rug? Or will I have to make it so big there’s enought for both of us?
