I was experimenting making wrist warmers in the round and lengthwise and came up with a stitch combination that I liked. None of the uncomfortable foundation chain tightness where one begins but enough tightness that it doesn’t just form a “skirt”. Since I had used several lengths of different color that I had left over from some other projects, it came out all colorful but I liked it, so I left them.
Then, my son gave me a “haircut”. Military style. So I needed a hat QUICKLY! I looked at the warmers & decided I’d “match” them & so used the same colors. I also decided to do it in the round since I’ve only done hats from crown to edge & added some random stitches to make it interesting.
The finishing touch on the hat is the picot stitching around the edge and a “ribbon” created by doing single stitches on the width (2sc wide!) to tighten it ‘cause I ended up making it a tad too wide.
I really like the fall/autumny-y colors & the fact that it fits MY style.
