Embroidered eyes onto face rather than use safety eyes since my niece is too young for pieces that can come loose. Same safety concern for changing buttoned vest into pullover top. Made this a girl bear so changed the vest to a top and added a skirt to her outfit. Followed Sleeveless Doll Sweater/Vest and Ruffled Doll Skirt patterns by Nanette Genereux as guides.

Top heavily modified as follows:

Used 3mm circular needles (2) and CO 56 sts, joining without twisting sts to work in the round.

Moss stitch:
Rnds 1 & 2: k1p1 around
Rnds 3 & 4: p1k1 around

Rpt moss stitch patt 2x, divide for armholes.
* BO 3sts, k25, rpt from . 50 sts rem

Back:
Work back & forth leaving sts for front waiting on other needle.
Row 1 (WS): p across
Row 2: k1, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1
Rpt these 2 rows once more.
Work even for 3 rows
(RS) k4, k2tog, k9, ssk, k4
(WS) p3, p2togtbl, p9, p2tog, p3
(RS) leave live sts waiting on this needle. 4 sts on ends will be sleeve tops, middle 9 sts will be back of collar

Front:
Rejoin yarn to begin on WS.
Work front as for back.

Graft 4 sts of left sleeve top from front and back (grafting tog 8 sts total).
Do the same for right sleeve top.

Collar:
(RS) Rejoin yarn, work 1x1 rib around for 3 rounds. BO in patt. Weave in ends.

Skirt modified as follows:

Used 3mm circular needles (2) to work skirt.
Cable cast on 128 sts, joined without twisting to work in the round.

Stitch Pattern:
Rnd 1: k1p1 around
Rnd 2: K around
Rnd 3: p1k1 around
Rnd 4: K around

Worked stitch pattern once.
Next rnd K2tog around to dec and create ruffle. 64 sts rem.

Next rnd: p around
Next rnd: k around
Next rnd: * k2tog, YO, rpt from * to end of round.

Next rnd: k around
Next rnd: p around

Worked stitch pattern just once.
Dec rnd: * k2tog, k8, rpt from *

Begin k1p1 ribbing for waist, worked 2 rnds
Next rnd: in 1x1 rib, dec 8 sts from each needle (16 total dec) - 40sts rem

K tog in 1x1 rib 20 sts of back of skirt to 20 sts on back of bear. Repeated this for 20 sts of front of skirt with 20 sts on front of bear. This attaches skirt directly to bear.

Next rnd: Work 1x1 rib around
BO in patt loosely.
