Started yet another project where I re-create something from a photo.
My friend sent me this link to Etsy shop asking if I can make these Mitts for her… The last, light picture.
I would love to knit these mitts with soft wool yarn, but my friend is allergic to wool. And even in acrylic yarn they look awesome. Our winters are pretty mild, so they should work for my friend.
I might make them for myself as well, as they are so cute!
I charted a cuff, and knitted a few samples on DPNs, using different casts-on. Finally, I came up with something that might just work!
12-18-2015
- casted on 35 sts, loosely
- 5 rows according to pattern
- cable
- repeat 4 times total
- on the 4th cable row, start stockinette knitting
- on the 5th cable start a thumb increases, on 5th st from the cable
- increase on the thumb until 11 sts, transfer to cable, cast on 1st
- knit 13 rows of the body of the mitt, cast off, decr 4 sts - on the front and back
- knit 5 rows on the thumb
Heart - I use Love Heart free pattern, size Medium.

Rnd 1: (3 tr, 4 dc, tr, 4 dc, 3 tr) into magic ring.
Pull the magic ring mostly closed, leaving a small space in the middle, ch 2, sl st into the remaining hole in the magic ring. Pull the magic ring tightly closed)
second row - sc instead of hdc, hdc instead of dc (Rnd 2: sc in ch-sp, 2 hdc in next st, 3 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 3 st, 2 hdc in next st, (hdc, dc, hdc) in next st, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 3 st, 2 hdc in next st, 3 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st, (sc, sl st) in ch-sp.)
My friend asked for a short video on how to knit this cable. In no way this simple video I could call my video a tutorial but rather a sample of how to knit this cable.
