Ellie has become quite the proficient knitter, including socks. She selected this pattern for her birthday gift.
The pattern comes in a single size which she indicated should fit her. Given the number of sts cast on, I was concerned they may be too big so dropped down a needle size. The tighter gauge necessitated one additional repeat of the strawberry motif before beginning the decreases.
An unintentional change was to knit the base of the heel in regular St st rather than the sl st pattern - duh. I did not discover my error until I got to that point on sock 2 so decided to repeat the error. This confounds me because I have been using the sl st pattern on socks that call for plain St st for the past several pairs - brain fizz I guess.
The only other change to the pattern was to graft the toe sts rather than gather them.
Fortunately I have a LOT of yarn left so if they don’t fit or the heel doesn’t work, I can work a second pair.
