I first made this curtain for my mother in the early ’90s. After she sold her home, I reclaimed it. Years of wear on an west facing window was too much and it started to fall apart after a gentle wash.
Being fond of the design and having quite a lot of linen left in my stash, I knit a replacement.
Modifications:

• CO 199 sts (7 multiples+10 sts)
• Finished size 25” x 54”.
• 80 reps of Part A, 6 reps of Part C
• Used ssk instead of skp throughout & CDD instead of sk2p at the picot edging, the end of the dec sections in Part B, and in Part C
• I wanted the hem to end at the point of the leaf motif and with smaller loops between. I worked Row 291 as is, then modified Rows 293 & 295 so the BO row (297) was grouped with 6 chain sts between groups of: 4, 3, 4, 3, (2, 3), repeated to last 11 sts, end 4, 3, 4. In spite of trying to write out the changes, I ended up working them as I went.
• No double crochet at the hem, just groups with 6 chain sts between.
• Washed & stretched the curtain before applying the dc edging to the selvedges. My inherited steel crochet hook says Susan 7 Bates on one side & 15 cents on the other…I’m uncertain of the actual size.
