Notes

A friend passed along a bag of yarn that looked like a kit grouping. I searched Ravelry and found the pattern. I’ll knit it up and return it to her. It’s unusual to have the tips of the triangles be different texture and color so wearing it may/not be a challenge. She can decide whether to keep it or pass it on in its current iteration.

My st gauge is a tighter than the pattern using the largest needle size recommended by the manufacturer. I decided to stick with it rather than risk sloppy-looking/too loose sts.

I prefer to work from charts. For this pattern, I had to refer to the row directions several times to make sure I was correctly interpreting the gray boxes on the chart. The Icelandic BO is a good choice for this pattern but instructions therein aren’t very clear. Very Pink’s video is the source I used to work the BO.

Upon careful scrutiny after completing the chevron section, i discovered one missed m1 and several others that were worked (inconsistently) in the wrong direction. Decision time…tink all the way down to the first error & reknit with the distinct possibility of new errors. Or tink down to the errors & rework only those columns. Or leave as is. Given the texture of that section, where the errors are pretty well hidden in the garter bumps, I decided to correct most errors within the column but not rip the entire shawl all the way back to the first error row. Most of the sts were correctable without distortion including the missed m1 which was in the last multiple and only a few rows down from the final row. A few though fed into the double dec a few rows above the error so those I’ve left as my signature on the garment. smirk

All but the gray yarn were mini skeins.
