One of the good things about friends having babies is that I finally have an excuse to make a Monkee! I found the pattern pretty easy to follow, so it wasn’t as scary as I thought it might be. Can’t say I enjoyed sewing all the pieces together, but it wasn’t too bad (didn’t bother with mattress stitch, partly because I’m awful at it and partly due to a lack of time, as the monkee had to be ready for my friend’s visit). Instead of dried peas, I filled the monkee’s hands, feet and bottom with plastic pellets sewn into socks so they can’t escape between the stitches. The one thing that I wasn’t too happy with was the eyes - I embroidered them using satin stitch, although I didn’t really know what I was doing and I’m sure they could have been better. Baby Freddie didn’t seem to care, though!
