Monster baby booties made for a friend’s baby, due in a few months’ time.

I found the pattern a little confusing in places - I wasn’t sure why you chain 2, as I thought the turning chain for US sc (UK dc) is only 1. I only did 1 turning chain per row for the sole and it seems to have worked ok.

I found the body a bit more difficult. For a start, it’s incredibly difficult to see your stitches in this yarn, so I used stitch markers, but they fell out from time to time. I also found that I had to do the stitches very loose, especially around the sole, as the sole kept bunching up at the front. I tried to make the last couple of rows quite tight, though, as I expect a wriggly baby won’t keep them on for long! I didn’t keep turning as the pattern suggests as I didn’t really see the point - I just worked in the round.

I made the claws by sewing a few stitches. I tried using the same yarn as the sole at first, but I found that they blended in too much with the furry yarn. I then used some lighter-coloured yarn from my stash, which I think stands out a bit better but I’m still not 100% happy with them.
