First time bootie-maker, doing these on the airplane, except for the final finishing and re-do of the soles (read on).

I used larger size needles than pattern calls for because I wanted to use the larger sized yarn, but didn’t seem to make so much difference in the gauge, however, I think they did turn out a bit bigger than they probably should be. Used leftover bits of yarn from other project. These don’t use much yarn at all. I made I-cord for the ties instead of suggested ribbon because I wanted to put mini-pom poms on the ends.

Started on Lantern Moon size 7 needles, as pattern stated “straight needles” but neglected to mention anywhere in the booklet that a set of 5 DPs would be needed. Duh. Slipped stitches to vintage aluminum pink size 7 “Diana” DPs but they were so danged slippery with this yarn that I bought a set of bamboos in size 7 to switch to so I could knit on the plane to SC.

Something’s wiggy about the pattern when moving to the “Sides” section of instructions, but not sure why. Probably would not use this booklet again because of that.

Finally, had to rip out bind offs at the bottom (sole) and do a kitchner stitch (2 needle bindoff) to eliminate the bulky seam, adverse to the directions. Much better -- that seam was ridiculous on the bottom of the foot. (Photos shot before washing and blocking)
