Notes

First of all, used 20” or 24” circular needles to facilitate the piecing, etc. later, knitting back and forth on circulars.

Starting with 1st bootie, knitted one piece for the right and left sides instead of having to seam it up the back.

This is done by casting on double the amount of stitches to start (C.O. 30 sts) proceed by reading the pattern (for “right side” instructions) thus: row 1 - knit as written, then keep knitting (the left half) by reading the same row instructions backwards (to make a mirror image). Increases are at the center back and very nice looking.

Piece together by putting the “tab” piece on at the end of the needles along with the right/left piece and continue knitting, per instructions for the “foot.”

Knitted one of the laces with size 2 needles and felt it was too bulky/wide for the size of the bootie. Re-did lace on #1 double-pointed: C.O. 2 sts, knit i-cord until 18-inches long - makes thinner/more manageable laces to tie in a bow. Ultimately, bought “real” 18” shoe laces for a more authentic sneaker-look.

Soaked finished 1 piece in cold water & a drop of “Soak” cleaner; rinsed, then added a squoash of white vinegar to the 2nd rinse water to set the color, just in case. Let soak 10 minutes. Dried flat on a towel overnight.

After blocking: measures 8 in. long along the white stripe at bottom x 4 in. high at tallest point.

Seaming the tongue seam was fiddley to get the white stripe sides to match up. Bottom “sole” seam is bulky at each end - should be shaped so as not to leave points at toe and heel ends on the bottom, IMHO.

BUT other than that, pattern moves along smoothly and quickly and results in a successful finish - quick and uses very little yarn.
