This is a great little sweater pattern! I would knit it again!
I think the way the sides overlap gives a little room to grow too. Tosh DK is a nice yarn. I would use it again too. Although, it is a bit splitty and in my opinion, feels delicate for attaching buttons/ties to at this loose gauge. I highly advise washing/blocking your project. It helps everything fall into place and makes for a nicer presentation.

My 100th project logged on ravelry!
Skeins weigh 117g and 120g.
Swatched with US8 metal cubics. Looks like gauge was achieved. Will wash and dry next. 9g used on swatch. Did a picot BO for fun. I won’t do that to the sweater though.
Edit: Swatch dried down same.

Yarn is very soft in the swatch. This is probably a looser gauge than I would knit on this yarn, but it is acceptable. Would go down a needle size if I wasn’t trying to keep to the pattern gauge.
Tosh DK is very stretchy, squishy yarn. Not like Tosh Vintage (which is heavier, tighter twist, and less soft even though it softens with washing). DK does split when doing any increasing/ anything other than straight knitting, so have to watch for that. I think this will be nice for a baby garment though.
This color is a very girly pretty pink. It has a bit of a golden glow to it where it would be bare between the pink dye. Nice.
Cast on for the 6 month size. My thinking is that would get more use a little bigger.

Trellis stitch is not hard at all. Here is a video that shows how to do it. She doesn’t talk at all. Just watch and then follow the pattern directions cuz it’s slightly different.

I decided I’m finished with the trellis stitch section last night. I measure 6.5” and that’s probably a good stopping point. If I continue on with more repeats it will be too long.
Reading on in the pattern, I’m not sure about the rolled edge. Does that look finished enough? I saw many people did icord edging instead. I gotta wonder if icord is the most comfortable thing. Babies have their sweater pressed against them a lot, in a stroller, carrier, crib, in someone’s arms. I would think the thickness of the icord would press into them.
Maybe it’s not an issue, but I wouldn’t want to lie down and go to sleep with my robe on and my robe belt under me. It would be a lump and uncomfortable. That’s how I think of it. Princess and the Pea situation I suppose. So I guess I will just do the pattern as written.

BO body last night. Weighs 98g so far.
Measured across the back, about 9.5”. Looks like it’s just right.
This is gonna be so pretty!

Knit the first sleeve last night. Went to sleeves next instead of doing edging. I just didn’t feel like picking up all those stitches.
Used US9 metal cubics on the sleeves.

BO tonight. Ends weaved in. Still needs closures.

The sewn button loop tutorial link in the pattern lead to a page that wouldn’t load properly. No images. Not useful. So I found this video and here is another video. I think watching someone do it, that is a better way to learn how to do this. Very simple!
Edit: I ended up not using this to create my button loop. It was too bulky. I made a cording out of yarn and thread instead.

Finally washed it today. Measured and it’s all to pattern specifications. Hopefully will dry down same. Maybe I should pin it.

I probably should have pinned it because it shrunk back down in the length. I think it’s fine though.

This sat around waiting for me to attach the inner ties. Really was done in June. I did a single crochet chain as I thought that would give the least bulk. I didn’t know how I was supposed to attach the ties to the sweater. So I just pulled the end thru and then weaved it in very securely. Hope this stays put.
Baby arrived 9/30/20! She was 7lbs 14 oz. Glad I knit the second size. Time to give her the sweater.
