I knit this for my 5 yr old nephew’s baby doll at his request. I made a slightly smaller yellow one for his 2 yr old sister’s doll. When she received it, both kids played with it, and it didn’t take long for Benny to want one too. He’s one of my biggest fans of my knitting and has discovered, if he asks, I will knit it.
He also wants a red hoodie like the one I knit for him, that will be coming soon. I find it adorable how much he likes for me to knit things for him. Every time he sees me knitting or an item I’ve knit, he says how great Aunt Jenny is and she makes things! Yes, he gets me.

Following smallest size to get a second size FO for a 14 inch doll with aran yarn.
Benny requested 5 buttons. In his words, “It needs 5 buttons to keep it closed.”
So rows 3, 12, 21, 30 and 39 will be buttonhole rows. Rows 12 and 30 are purl rows, so the buttonhole sts will be in reverse.
Rows 12 & 30: K4, purl to last 4 sts, k2tog, yo, k2.
Rows 3 & 39 as written.
Row 21: K2, yo, k2tog, Knit to end.
yrn = yo
I had to look up what yrn (yarn round the needle) means and it’s just another way of saying yo (yarn over).
Row 27
I’ve knit many sweaters and knew what to do, but if you’re wondering what to do when you come to the bound off stitches in the middle of the row, you simply pinch the live stitches so they’re next to each other and knit the next stitch. Snug that stitch up after you knit it to make for a nice transition. See pics on my yellow doll sweater also.

Washed sweater yesterday. It is dry today. Sewed on buttons (purchased from Joann) and a little handmade tag. Turns out Benny was right, 5 buttons looks great.

Benny was so happy to get this sweater for his doll! His mom reported that they put it on as soon as they got home. It fits!
