Nice little hat. Knit for my Secret Santa recipient, brother-in-law (as a supplemental gift). Hard to give it up, but I did not knit this for myself. Feels nice to wear. I tried it on my head and my husband’s (bigger) head so far and it fit both of us nicely. I think BIL is in between our sizes.
The pattern was a little confusing to me. Mostly the table at the top of page 2. I wasn’t sure why you would knit a smaller hat more length. Now I think maybe the larger size has more decrease rounds and therefore you would knit less length before decreasing, but it’s still not clear to me. To help, I looked at the pattern author’s projects to see what she did. Seemed she knit to 8.5” and then decreased. So that’s what I did. If I knit this again, I’ll likely do that again.
edit: upon further thought, I’d make it a tad shorter before decreases by 1/2 - 1 inch.
If you want to do the 3 sided decreases, you would cast on either 108 or 126 stitches depending on size and follow decreases for 3 sided.
If you want to do 4 sided decreases, you would cast on either 104 or 120 stitches.
I think this pattern could be organized and formatted better to make it clearer. Free pattern, so you take as it comes. In the end, I have a nice hat to gift.
The yarn makes a nice finished product. Due to the bamboo, it doesn’t have bounce as you knit. Feels a little like knitting cotton. The fabric feels very soft and absolutely no itchiness. Good choice for a hat. The color is indigo and yes, it’s blue, but in artificial light, looks to be gray and is hard to tell it’s blue. In sunlight, it looks blue. I like the color. If you’re looking for a really saturated blue blue, this wouldn’t be it.

Finished. Just need to wash and add the tag.
Knit to 8.5” and then did four sided decreases.
Finished length about 10.5” tall x 10” wide unstretched, unblocked.
Bummed out that I made a mistake about 2” from the cast on. K where I should’ve P. Ugh! Not sure if I want to gift it with the mistake.
later… had a hard time finding the mistake, so decided it wasn’t a big deal.
21g of yarn left.

Finally got my tag sewn on. Had to go to the store to get thread that would work with this color.
Grew about 1/2” in length with careful washing/blocking.
Finished.

Well, it fit and he seemed to like it. He said it looked “finely knit.” I guess that means it’s nice. ![:smiling_face_with_3_hearts: smiling_face_with_3_hearts](https://style-cdn.ravelrycache.com/images/twemoji/1f970.png)
