I am knitting 75% of these pullovers on the knitting machine. I plan on doing the rest by hand. I am replicating the “year 1” version of these school pullovers. They have house color banding at the bottom, the wrists and in the V-neck.
These pullovers will be costumes that my son and two friends will wear for our 2018 Christmas card. This year we will be doing a Harry Potter theme, year 1. Unfortunately, there seems to be a size missing between between the last kid’s size and the first adult size. I will figure that size out and do it! That’s my son’s size.
After the picture, I will let the kids use them as a Halloween costume-if they want, and sell the sweaters at a kids’ theater charity auction. People love Harry Potter stuff.

I found the colors for the different houses in Knit Pick’s Comfy-worsted. Their colors were the best, plus I needed a yarn that would be easy care to go with the Uptown DK acrylic yarn.

I finished the smallest (3rd size/28” chest) v-neck today (Gryffindor). Now I need to pick up the 3-1/2 size (their seems to be a gap in the pattern with a huge size difference between the 3rd and 4th size.) So my son is a 3-1/2! Size 4 is too large! Fortunately, it was easy to do.
The other two v-neck are 75% complete. I just need to add the school colors, ribbing, knit the actual v-neck and sew them all together.

I am not loving the acrylic, but after I get my Christmas card picture, I will donate them to auctions to raise money for children’s theatre programs. Acrylic is more widely worn by children I have met than wool.

I just finished the largest one of this group-it is the Sytherin one. Andy is going to play Draco Malfoy and he’s a big 11 year old.
