I don’t have any good quality felt so I decided to try to crochet pieces for the eyes. I had to improvise, since most crochet eye patterns are just circles, but Astro has a definite anime-oval shaped eye. Here’s my write up of my technique:

Whites
With yarn 1/4 the thickness (used 4 ply worsted weight & separated it into 4 strands).

1- Crochet 6
2 - Sc into 2nd from hook, sc 3, sc 3 in last stitch (working around to the back of the 1st chain)
3 - sc 4, ch 3 in last stitch turning around the row
4 - repeat row 3
5 - sc 4 & fo leaving a long tail to sew it on the face
