I am making a heart granny for the center using this pattern: http://redagapeblog.com/crochet-granny-heart-tutorial/. Then I’ll add rounds to make a giant granny square blanket. I plan to finish with a claret border, not sure which pattern yet. I am basing it on Sandra Cherryheart’s Grannie Goes Large pattern with Stylecraft Special DK colors, but I’ve made quite a few substitutions:
Buttermilk instead of Lemon
Vintage Peach instead of Apricot
Storm Blue instead of Denim
Khaki instead of Grape
Claret instead of Copper

I am using The Patchwork Heart’s granny square tutorial (http://www.thepatchworkheart.co.uk/2015/04/granny-square-...). I like the smaller holes created by doing no chains on the sides and just one in the corners.

11-13-19 — For the border I did a round each of granny stitch, single crochet, and crab stitch.
