The African spear plant (Sansevieria cylindrica), also known as the cylindrical snake plant, is a succulent that consists of upright, gray-green, subtly striped leaves. The leaves are cylindrical in shape but narrow to a point at their tips. When grown in optimal conditions, African spear plants might send up a long flower spike from their center that’s full of tiny, delicate, white blooms. They are best planted at the start of the growing season in the spring, and they’re generally a slow-growing succulent.

So this came out too big. It wasn’t even my gauge. I cast on more stitches for my moss stitch than my notes said to. I’ve tried to pretend it is just oversized, but it’s more than that. I am swatching in DK and may remake it in a thinner yarn, but this question is this worth saving. I think it is. It will involve taking out the neck and armhole ribbing, ripping back to armhole on back, to beginning of neck shaping (which is lower) on front. Steaking and removing much of the seed stitch and the reworking my number on armhole shaping and neckline. I think a standard shoulder is also probably better for this. Or I rip the whole thing out. Still haven’t decided…

Sweater surgery has begun. Ribbing and seams have been removed. What I thought was a 52” was closer to 56” and I want to go down to 50”, so I will remove 1.5” from each side.

Sweater surgery going well.
Removed 1.5” from each side. Made arm hole less wide (ending at the same place in the chart as before)
Made straps wider making neck opening more narrow and leaving cross back the same. This will give me the width I need and prevent straps from slipping. Made armhole about 1” less deep.
Decided against tailored shoulders so made the strap shorter, for standard shoulder shaping.
