Notes

Absolutely magical colorway. Love how beautifully these two hand-dyed skeins blend together.

Pattern Notes/Mods:

  • Cuff: CO 64 sts using Tillybuddy’s Very Stretchy Cast On and US 1.5’s. After casting on, slip first stitch on left needle to right needle. Switch to US 1’s and worked 18 rows of 1x1 ribbing starting with a purl stitch (seems to work best that way given the structure of the Tillybuddy CO). After the first row of 1x1, purl the first stitch from the left needle and pass it to the right needle. Then start helical knitting. This seems to get rid of the jog.
  • Leg: 38 rows of 3x1 ribbing
  • Heel Flap: over 31 sts, knit 28 rows (alternating skeins by knitting one across, the second across on the right side and knitting from one and then the second skein across the wrong side)
  • Heel Cup: as instructed in pattern until 13 sts remained (only knit from one skein for this part). Then knit to center of heel cup (first from one skein then the other so that the helix now starts at the bottom of the foot.
  • Gusset: Pick up and knit 24 sts from each side of the heel flap. After twisting the stitches on the next row, start gusset decreases now and every second row until 31 sts remain on sole.
  • Instep: 30 rows in pattern
  • Toe Decreases: Now and every second row, do toe decreases until 16 sts left on needle (9 on instep and 7 on sole). Kitchener stitch closed.

Final measurements:

  • Gauge: 31 sts x 43 rows = 4”
  • Heel to toe: 9.5”
  • Heel flap: 2.875”
  • Top of heel flap to top of cuff: 5.625”
  • Foot circumference: 7”
  • Leg circumference: 6.75”
