I decided this couldn’t be marked complete until it was actually hanging, which meant putting a backing on it :(
But now it’s done :)
This is 1937 on the left and 2017 on the right and is hanging at the top of the stairs.
Thought I would like to do a temperature blanket. I have a weather station that reports temperature data so it is easy for me to get the temperatures right at my house. This is the link

Deciding on yarn took a while. I didn’t want it to be too heavy so went with acrylic though I usually don’t like acrylic very much. Then I had to find one that wouldn’t break the bank and had enough colors. In the end went with Ice Yarns. Shipping was the same cost as the yarn since it has to come from Turkey, but since the yarn is absurdly cheap, that still makes for a cheap blanket.
Going to do it in garter stitch quarters and have both max and min temps for each day. First photo is most of January. Days on the left, nights on the right. Changed the colors a little. Turquoise is in the 30’s, blues and purple below freezing.
So 2 weeks into Feb I decided I didn’t want a queen sized blanket, and changed to a wall hanging instead. This one has days on the right, nights on the left and seasonal trees dividing them. The garter rows are the avg temp for the week.
I discovered that I can get all the daily temps back to the 1800s on this website - https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/cdo-web/search. How exciting! I’m going to do 1937 and 2017 and hang them side by side. The differences in temperatures between those 80 years is mind-boggling.
