I started making up some granny squares with my leftover worsted yarn from various projects. I’m not sure what this will turn into. I’d love to make an afghan, but wow, that will take forever. My squares are coming out slightly different sized and shaped, but I feel like I’m getting better at it already.
Sep 9, 2013: I started cranking away at this again a few weeks ago. I have 27 squares now. The sizes of my squares aren’t very consistent, but I’m really enjoying this project. I haven’t decided what color or technique to join the squares, but I’ve got a long way to go before I have to decide that.
Jan 29, 2014: After a long break, I added five more squares to my collection, including some with yarn from my kitty sweater. I’m up to 35 now. I’m not sure how I feel about the teal color I added, but think it will work.
Feb 7, 2014: Up to 40 squares, all ends woven in. I wonder if I should start thinking about how I’ll join them so I don’t have to save that all until the end. Also, I have no idea how many squares I’ll need.
July 26, 2016: I’m almost done with another sweater, so that means it’s time for me to get bored and start making granny squares again. I’m up 52, I think. I think Lisa helped me calculate how many I’ll need and it was well over 200.
August 27, 2016: I’m at 65 squares now. They’re each about 4”, and I’m guessing will be 5” if I join the together with another color. So that would be about 120 squares I’ll need. I can’t decide what color to use to join them though. Black? Cream? Navy?
