5/22: I missed the last Reddit knit-along, so I figured I’d start this one early. Not sure if I’ll finish by end of June, but I figured I’d give it a go. I bought this yarn last winter, and I’m happy to have a use for it. I hope the variegation works okay with the lace pattern, but I think it’s subtle enough.
5/30: I made enough mistakes that I figured it was best to start over. I started this time with Starcastic’s awesome chart, which was for the best since I never got the hang of those twisted stitches. I still can’t find my size 7s, so I started again on 6s. I think I’ll like it a little better with the tighter stitches. I like how it was looking until I messed up the pattern! This time, I’ll use lifelines.
7/10: Oops, so I’m about two weeks late for the Reddit knit-a-long deadline. Oh well, it’s not as easy to knit in summer. I’m glad I didn’t bind off early and made it a full scarf. I’m currently blocking; I can’t wait to see how it looks done.
I really enjoyed this pattern, and it helped when I got to know it well enough that I could stop referring to the instructions. It’s funny how it doesn’t make sense at first and then it just clicks. Starcastic’s mods totally helped!
7/13: Hmm, I don’t think I did the greatest job blocking. I’m going to try again.
8/21: Wow, it took over a month to reblock and photograph. Hard to get motivated during a record-breaking heat I suppose.
I still don’t think I did the best job blocking this. I’m also happy with how the cast-on edge is wavy, but how the bind-off edge is straight. But I think the yarn looks lovely with the pattern and I like the feel of the yarn around my neck.
