Fuck. Put this down for most of two years, no idea where I was at (notes? What notes?)

By stitch count I was at least a repeat into Part E but not sure where. Finished a RS row by knitting to neck edge, the CO 5 as if finishing section 1. Started again at section 2 and will balance out st count by this repeat.

Finishing for tonight having completed a E,2 Section.

Finished tonight Part E, patterns section 4, set 1 complete, ready to start set 2

Unducking beliebabable, ran out of yarn ever so shortly before the bind-off. But the shawl is quite LONG, but not wide. Possibly I did too many repeats of a narrower section? Possibly it’ll block to the right size?

I am seeking someone with leftovers of this colour and also contemplating a’frogging back to the start. Ugh.

Restarted this, knitting from the other end of the yarn and just unravelling the nearly-complete-ran-out-of-yarn shawl right into knitting the new one.

Going to do a combination of adding a sts at a time to jump the stitch count on the narrower sections ahead by 5-10 sts, thus will have fewer repeats of the earlier pattern parts in order to hopefully have a shorter but broader shawl. Doing this by casting off 14 where it says 15, etc, or casting on one extra at a time. Adding 5 sts over the course of one Section repeat give the same sts count while removing one full repeat from the section, but working to the same width or depth. Given that the triangle I had got to was already about 70” long but only 14” deep when I ran out of yarn, either I’d done something wrong or my gauge was waaaay off anyway.

Back in the groove with this, starting my 4th, I think, Section E repeat with a whole ball of yarn left to go.

Pretty much done! I am doing a pick-up-and-bind-off move with the last yards of yarn to stabilize and even out the neck edge, as it has a bit of loopiness where the leaves/flames/petals meet differently between cast-on segments. Another few inches of that, then blocking!

26-05-2022

All done but the blocking - which will come. Wore it out in the woods at camp for Mothers’ Day weekend.

2023 Adjudicated show entry. No placement. Comment was needed better blocking. It’s a tough one to block totally flat, for sure.
