Notes

For working out the fair isle design. I just threw this up here in response to a thread (John Lennon’s Vest) looking for a pattern. Note: the one shown here is what he wore in the film, “John Lennon in New York” mentioned in the thread, but it isn’t actually an exact match to the first sweater the OP had shown.

Pretty endearing that he must have loved this sweater to be wearing it with rips and frays in it!

Jan. 2, 2011 - I started messing around with it and got as far as swatching - there are mistakes (the Greek Key design is twice as tall as it should be for one). Also wasn’t paying attention and messed up some color placement. The 2nd Greek Key set ended up backwards (started on purl side - whoops). I also might change the Greek Key sections to an 8-stitch multiple.

August, 2011 - Done. I still need to block the vest, then will start the large size and earnest pattern-writing. For final project, add short-row sloped shoulders as well.

This is my prototype (too small for anyone but my 8-year-old granddaughter). The neck needs changing - will change for the final version, which will be Wool of the Andes, larger needles, longer cast-on (and mistakes removed!).

On the final sweater, will need to use smaller sized needle for the ribbing as well. Think I’ll make it an Italian tubular cast-on (1x1 rib still).

Note to self: Notify Knittingintexas. roocmc, thehaunt, lablanche when finalized
