This pattern is something of a combination of the BHAG pattern and the PatchworkCrochet.com hexagonal flower motif pattern. I’m basically crocheting the number of motifs for the BHAG pattern and hopefully will be putting the afghan together in that way but crocheting each motif in the PatchworkCrochet.com style. The openwork hexagon is so much easier than the dense 6 five-strand cluster of the BHAG project. I was a little too overzealous for that one. I’m just a beginner crocheter. It’s going well so far, but I’ve got many many many motifs to go. It’s a good project for watching TV or a movie!
Two days after I’ve started, I have one flower crocheted and whipstitched together. =D It looks so nice. Only 17 to go…
Wow! It’s been 32 days since I’ve started, if I’m counting right. So after a month (ish) I’ve finished 7 flowers. W00t. I was looking at the two layouts I have and wondering which one I should do. If I chose the one for the hexagonal pattern I’m doing, I’d have to make some partial flowers which look kind of cool if you wrap the afghan around you because they connect to make a whole flower. If I went with the original one in the BHAG pattern, I’d have to crochet LOTS and LOTS of the little green hexagons. I don’t particularly like that yarn… but if I made less of those, I’d have to find more complimentary colors for more flowers… hm. In the meantime I have another two flowers to crochet together. Yay! I’m sooo proud of this project.
September Update
So I’ve decided, now that I’m back at school and have been knitting more (Christmas gifts!) that I’d like to give myself the deadline of graduation for this afghan. I’ll be graduating in May and if I can have it done by then I’ll be very pleased. Or maybe have all the pieces done and sew it together in the summer. (When I’m not working… pray I get a job!) Wish me luck!
October 2012 Update
I finished the afghan and have been using it, but haven’t actually woven in the ends or done a border. Oh well! Maybe someday. I’ve already moved on to another afghan!
