Notes

Cast on 44 sts. These mittens are neither right nor left. Since I’m knitting in a Transformer chart, I have to decide. This first mitten will be for the right hand.
First Increase Row - the numbers don’t add up. I knitted 22sts and then increased a stitch, K1, increase one. Lastly, I knitted 21 stitches. = 44 + 2 = 46.

Transformer Chart: Autobot - It is 21 blocks/stitches wide and 22 blocks high. After the chart is complete, I switched to knitting in the round.

Thumb: I started with 15 sts. and closed up holes by grabbing even more stitches and knitting two together at least three times the first row. By the third row I had decreased to 13 stitches. Also, I added two stitches to the needles (not to the thumb stitches).

Top: Modification: I need to make this mitten look more like a Transformer, so I chose this top. Put a clip/marker at the far R and L end stitches, opposite each other. Two stitches before the end stitch knit 2 tog, Knit the end stitch (that’s one of the far R or L stitches). Then SSK. Do that on both ends. Then knit a row in between the decrease rows. I stopped decreasing when I had 25 stitches left on needles. I did the double bind off.

Note to self: not my most favorite mitten pattern - mainly for the weird thumb. The thumb doesn’t look comfortable. I like the lifeline (Indian Gusset) thumb better.
