Notes

Cast on with size 6, 32+1 sts.
Switch to size 5, k2,p2
20 rows
1 row knitted (still with size 5)
Switch to size 6 and knit 3 rows.
K4 PM increase AFTER the marker (= right mittens)
Increase 10 sts for thumb.
Add 2 sts when placing 10 sts on holder.
NOTE: placement of Marker for right mittens should be right after the second knit stitch of the ribbing (four rows later) That way that knit stitch matches up with the right leaning lifeline.

15 rows of blue

Similar to Marie’s Plain Four Needle Mittens. 14 sts before kitchener.

Left Mitten: Same as for right until you place marker and do the increases BEFORE the marker. Also, the way you pick up the stitch is important to avoid an extra 1/2 stitch unlike the right mitten.

Thumb 13 stitches. Twelve rows.

I put a stripe on one thumb (left) so the owner could figure out quickly which mitten went on which hand.
