Notes

Cast on 48 sts. with size 5 needles.

Finished the chart and tried on the mitten at row 28 (after the cuff), hmmmm. At that point the mittens were too wide. Instead of ripping out and re-knitting, I snuck in decreases over the next ten rows. I think it turned out tailored.

At the tip I did some Kitchener stitch.

I had about seven inches left of the one skein. If you only want to use one skein of Lamb’s Pride, do a regular length cuff. My cuff was 31 rows long.

I would like to do this mitten again in a child’s size using smaller needles (and a lighter weight yarn).

THUMBS: I like this pattern’s way of designing the thumb and how uniform it was. I increased the 11 stitches on the thumb to 13 inches. I knitted the thumb on 13 stitches after I had picked up about six extra stitches and reduced them by k2tog for two rows on only those increased stitches (not the 13).

I made a ton of mistakes in the first one. It was frustrating, because that doesn’t happen to me much. In the Thumb Gusset directions, I don’t get the line “(k1, k2tog) for 6 times.” That still confuses me.
