Notes

VERY UNHAPPY THAT I HAD TO KNIT TWO HATS TO GET THE RIGHT SIZE.

Cast on 47 stitches after doing my gauge swatch.
I used the DK weight yarn directions.
On size 5 needles my gauge was, for a 2 inch square, 19 width and 25 height.
This hat is to match the 12-18 month size tiered coat that I just knitted.

The internet says the the average circumference of a 12 month old’s head is 18 inches. I finished the hat. It measures 18 inches at the ribbing part. This hat may or may not be too loose on her head. Again, the matching coat is sized for a 12-18 month old. The circumference of an 18 month old’s head is 18 1/4 inch. The hat may just fit an 18 month old.

First one looked enormous.
EVEN THOUGH I WAS CAREFUL, THE FIRST HAT WAS ENORMOUS. I HAD TO KNIT A SECOND HAT.

Second one with size 5 needles and cast on 41 stitches. I knitted six panels. Most of the panels were “12 row sections” the other panels were “10 row sections.”. The I cord is 10 inches long.

I doubt that I’ll ever know whether the hat and/or tiered coat ever fits.
