Notes

Reclaimed silk yarn from the charity shop, so weight and yardage is approximate.

I don’t want it too oversized, so at this gauge it should end up at around 42”/43”

Cast on 90 sts with 4mm needle.
8 rounds twisted rib.
Change to 5mm needle.
2 rounds even, then start short rows for back.
I worked the short rows at 9,13,17,21,23 sts.

I’m used to short rows only at the back neck that extend over the top of the shoulder, so I extended the stitch count to make the back short row section wider.
I missed out the front short rows as I wanted the front neck lower than the back.
I assume the positioning of the short rows makes the neck wider, as neither the back nor front short rows extend over the shoulders, and having short rows at the front would bring the front neck higher up.

Raglan increases:
As pattern but leave out the last (sleeve only) increase (2 sts less for sleeve)

Body weighs 189g, knitted to 10.5” from underarm, then 2.5” twisted rib on 4mm needle.

Sleeves:
Hoping I should have enough for long sleeves with the remainder.
2 bigger balls, 47g, 43g.
22 g in 2 little balls (14g, 8g) if needed, plus a few grammes left from the last ball on the body.
Starting the 1st sleeve with the 47g ball.

Decreased every 12th round down to 39st (k1, k2tog, knit to last 3 sts, ssk, k1)
Knit 5 rounds even, then decreased 1 st on the next round.
18 rounds twisted rib, then bound off in pattern.

42” bust, 23” length from top of shoulder, 18.5” inside sleeve.

OK, so I know silk stretches and I should’ve known better…it’s too long. When I took it off the blocking board the weight made the length stretch to around 25”
I didn’t want it really cropped, but this is too long!
I’m going to frog the bottom of the body and take a few inches off. Also, there’s a weird patch on the front where the yarn was thinner, so I’ll get rid of that at the same time.

Now I’m happy. The sleeves are a bit long, they stretched, too, but that’s OK. Shortened the body, lengthened the bottom rib. Love it!
