Notes

Attempt 1: CO 68 stitches, on 4+1 DPNs, frogged: too small.

Attempt 2: CO 72 stitches, on 4+1 DPNs, frogged: ladders between needles in 1x1 ribbing.

Attempt 3: CO 72 stitches, on 32” magic loop, 1x1 ribbing. Success!

Pattern
24 rounds of 1x1 ribbing.

Switch to DPNs at the beginning of leg pattern.

12 pattern repeats of the leg pattern before beginning the heel flap.

Heel flap: 8 repeats of 4 row pattern, 16 stitches to pick up on either side of the gusset.

Heel Turn:
36 stitches total, 18 = half. Wanted widest part of heel to be 6 stitches wide = 3 per side

Row 1- (RS) Sl 1 pwise wyb, k19, ssk, k1, turn
Row 2- (WS) Sl 1, pwise wyif, p5, p2tog, p1, turn
Row 3 - Sl 1 pwise wyb, knit to 1 stitch before gap, ssk, k1, turn
Row 4- Sl 1 pwise wyf, purl to 1 st before gap, p2tog, p1, turn
Repeat rows 3 & 4 until all heel stitches have been worked. Omit the k1 or p1 on the last repeat. 20 heel stitches remain.

Gusset:
Pick up 16 stitches per side +1 extra and move one stitch from the instep to the sole needles to avoid laddering, work instep in pattern, continue in pattern until there are 18 stitches left on each needle of the foot, move instep stitches back to original needles.

Foot: Begins w/R 3 of leg pattern.
Knit Rounds 3 & 4, before placing progress keeper at the beginning of Round 1

Pattern repeats on foot: 20.

Begin decreases for the toe after Round 4 of pattern repeat.

Toe decreases:
Round One -
Needle 1: k1, ssk, k to end of needle
Needle 2: k to last three stitches, k2tog, k1
Needle 3: k1, ssk, k to end of needle
Needle 4: k to last three stitches, k2tog, k1
Round Two - Knit all stitches

Repeat rows 1 & 2, 10 times.

Down to 8 stitches per needle (32 stitches total), shift stitches on to two needles, 16 stitches each (top and bottom of the foot).

Kitchener toe stitches, and weave in the end.
