Adjusting using the ⅓ to ⅔ method to use the most of this skein without ruining out!

Weighed skein after winding and starting a little bit: 175g

⅓ use: 58g, 117g remaining for decrease sections.

Shawl end weight: 129g
Remaining yarn weight: 41g

So after the last vein of lace in this shawl, I weighed my yarn, and thought that I maybe could have done the 5th increase repeat and had enough yarn to knit the whole shawl, but based on the ⅓ ⅔ calculations I didn’t. I decided instead of ripping the whole decrease section out (⅔ of the shawl total) I was just going to see how it went. If this hadn’t had a firm deadline I might have tried to reknit it (deadline: May 12, so I could’ve done it, but it would’ve been worrying if I had run out).

I think if I was going to knit this again with the same yarn (which I’d definitely recommend, it’s stunning!) I would go up a needle size or two from the recommended size in the pattern, I used a 3.5mm, and I think a 3.75mm or 4.0mm would’ve used up more of the yarn without sacrificing the integrity of the garter stitch/lace combination.

Instead, I’m adding tassels! To both of the long ends of the shawl, I think this will be fun, and help give a little bit of weight to the ends of the shawl to keep them in place.
