This was a well written pattern and I really like the sweater. Funny, I noticed several people said the armholes were too big or too tall; I love the fact that the armholes fit me! Usually patterns as written are too small for me in that area! So I guess it depends on your shape.

Finally decided on a pattern after months of indecision. I planned to use Hitofude but after looking at the pattern I decided the shape would be less than flattering on me and the pattern would require some hard work so all in all, not for me. I had almost given up when I was at the LYS and saw the cover of Free Spirit Knits. There you go! I do need to make it a bit longer but otherwise it looks perfect. Swatched and got gauge on second try. Cast on (lots of stitches! got it right first time!) and here we go.

Today I did the 3-needle bind-off for the shoulders, and put all three pieces (body & sleeves) to soak so I can try to block out some of the curl so I can sew in the sleeves. This is my least favorite part but this yarn is so pretty and the lace panels are so nice maybe I’ll be motivated to keep on going until it’s ready to wear.

This is going to be too small which is keeping me from getting motivated to sew in the sleeves. Put in time out for a while.

Was longer than “a while”!!
I am back at this and have one sleeve sewn in. I lost some weight this spring because of surgery and have kept it off so far so maybe it won’t be too small. Second sleeve soon. This yarn is too lovely not to finish it and if I can’t wear it surely someone can.

OMG it is finally finished. It’s beautiful and definitely not too small. I love the lace. I hope it doesn’t stretch too much. I guess I can put it in the dryer but then the lace will close up. Hmm.
Note to self: I sewed the sleeves in with waste yarn first (not carefully, just to get the size right etc.) and then sewed in with mattress stitch. This worked very well. (Pinning them in place wasn’t working at all for me.) I do not enjoy putting pieces together but I do think sweaters, especially cardigans, hold their shape a lot better when they have seams.
