Notes

Ordered yarn: September 2
Will wind an 11-yard warp and will dress b/f
12 dent reed

09-17-2021

Wound warp - 12 yards

09-18-2021

Beamed 12-yard warp.

09-19-2021

Tied up, threaded, and sleyed. slightly_smiling_face

09-21-2021

Tied on. Found a familiar but frustrating squishy treadling/small shed on treadles 4 and 6 and 9. I know this … it happens occasionally when moving heddles - a heddle gets caught in the heddle bar clips. Took me forever to find it. Uggh.

Will let the warp sit tensioned overnight, wind pirns and bobbins, and spread the warp tomorrow…

09-22-2021

Tested some plain weave and discovered a sleying mistake 5” in from the left … fixed. Wound bobbins and pirns. Did a test of the treadling to be sure there were no threading errors.

Doing the hems in 20/2 cotton, using Tom Knisely’s favorite hem method for the first time.

Wove the first third of a towel … happy with the results so far.

09-23-2021

Three towels done. I hate winding pirns.

09-24-2021

6 total towels done.

09-30-2021

Finally decided to just weave in pattern for the final 20” remnant. Removed from loom. 12 towels and remnant piece. Washing and drying today. Hopefully hemming tomorrow.

10-04-2021

Finally sat down and hemmed the 12 towels woven from this warp.

A little disappointed in the black cottolin - it was noticeably thinner and shed horribly under the loom and in the dryer. It also did not shrink as uniformly as the other colors. I really don’t like weaving with cottolin but love it’s absorbency and feel, so I decided to give it another go.

If to do over: use 8/2 cotton.
