I bought the largest size kit many years ago, not knowing who I would be knitting this for. As Andromeda currently loves identifying stars I decided it would be a good Christmas present this year. I’ll be adding sleeves.
My kit was without Poppy, so I raided my stash for that color.

I’m making a crew neck, so will start the first steeks on round 20, which will be the armhole steeks.
Copying the neck shaping from Cats and Mice in Children’s Collection means the neck shaping will take 22 rounds total. Start neck shaping on round 45.
Bum. The moon/star section isn’t going to match. Ideally the shoulder would be on one of the shooting star sections, but it’s too late for that now. Oh well, if I end up knitting another I’ll know better!

With my current stitch count even the shooting star rounds wouldn’t match perfectly, so if I do make this again (I have a feeling/hope it will become a favorite…) and want nicely matched shoulders I’ll need to do some proper planning before casting on.
I’m thinking for this one I’ll add two extra rounds at the top and repeat the border motif so the shoulders don’t look like a total mess. Perhaps add the two extra rounds before starting back neck shaping?
So.
Front neck: Put 5 sts either side of steek on holder, cast on steek.
Decrease at neck edge next 6 rounds.
Decrease at neck edge every other round x 2.
Put back neck stitches on holder, cast on steek stitches.
Decrease both; decrease back; decrease front; decrease back, 1 rnd plain, bind off steek stitches.

Sleeves (based on Oriental Flower, modified for what I want):
Pick up 81
Starting on round 41, working chart upside down, work 7 rounds plain
Decrease 1st of every 5 rounds 6 times
Then every 4 rounds 13 times
Work edging
